My approach
Holistic & writer-centred
I offer a holistic writer-centred approach which I balance with deep technical knowledge and professional insights. Before reading your text I will assess your goals and what you want to achieve from our time together. After reading your text we will have an online call, where I will communicate to you what story your text is currently telling, the themes that present themselves and the feelings the text invokes. This is an excellent way for you to experience your text through a reader's eyes and understand which elements of your story are being communicated strongly. We can then look at technical story elements that could be improved to benefit the text.
For story workshopping I will chat with you to establish the heart of your story and what you want your final text to communicate, then we will discuss possible ways you can achieve that.

Testimonials
‘Working with Rachel-Anne has been incredibly valuable. Feedback was detailed and prompt without being overwhelming, and really provided a clear frame of reference on how to move the writing forward with clear and actionable steps. Rachel-Anne was super friendly and invested, and helped me to rework my script in a way I would not otherwise have thought to do whilst keeping true to the core of the idea. The focus on character development particularly has had a real impact on this script, and has really increased the flow and engagement of the story. I am positive this feedback will go on to shape my future writing.’ Robyn
‘I'm really pleased with Rachel-Anne's feedback, she was prompt and thorough and highlighted opportunities in my writing to dig deeper into characters I had overlooked. Her emphasis on allowing the story to affect the characters and push them really helps for the reader to connect and see themselves in similar situations. The value of having another set of eyes, especially those with professional experience, is priceless. I'll be applying Rachel-Anne's feedback to everything I write in the future.’ Lee
‘I love working with Rachel-Anne because she isn’t afraid to put the project first. She always asks insightful questions that spark creativity, but she’s also able to ask those scary questions that need to be answered in the writing stage’ Douglas King
'Rachel-Anne's capabilities as a script reader has been imperative to the evolution of my script. Taking the time to really delve into the story and find her way around characters, dialogue, the world it all exists in so that she can ask really productive questions that has helped me improve my work. She cleverly knows how to not only ask questions about the script itself by my feelings/motives behind decisions I've made. All to challenge me as a writer and produce the best work possible.’ Lucy Webb
As someone who is very new to writing, I really needed some advice and feedback on what I was developing. Rachel-Anne gave me clear and concise feedback which didn't just give me more drive to write but also a direction to write in, her feedback has really been invaluable to my process.’ - Hugo

Can you help with short-form comedy content?
Absolutely. I specialise in short-form digital content and can also help creatives adapt existing short form into long form pitches, treatments and scripts.
-
Do you only consult on comedy scripts?
No. I consult across all genres but comedy is my specialism.
-
What makes comedy script consulting different from general script consulting?
Comedy writing requires unique expertise in timing, punchlines, and audience engagement, it doesn’t always follow the traditional storytelling rules. With this in mind I can help you craft a comedic and compelling script.
